Abandoned and Foreclosed Homes

Most chemicals, batteries and many other types of waste left at homes that have been abandoned through foreclosure or disaster are considered hazardous waste. Since many of these homes are owned by businesses, the waste becomes business generated hazardous waste and is subject to federal and state disposal regulations.

Curbside Inc. specializes in collecting hazardous waste from homes. We have done so at more than 225,000 homes. If you are a clean-out contractor or a bank, there are things you should know about how to properly manage hazardous waste. The links below provide more information about our hazardous waste programs for business.

Bottom line, we can probably help you if you contact us before you attempt to transport hazardous waste to a landfill. It is unlikely that it will cost just a few hundred dollars to remove the hazardous waste as it does to remove the trash. If you are a contractor, call us, we can give you an estimate to present to the property owner.

If you are a property owner, remember, you are legally the generator and responsible party. If your hazardous waste is dumped, you are still responsible for any clean-up and disposal plus possible fines. Call us in the early stages of your clean-out efforts.

At present, this program is only available in California, Colorado, portions of Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania.
