Door-to-Door Collection of Household Hazardous Waste.
We collect household hazardous waste directly from homes that have no further use for the materials. Typical hazardous household waste consists of paints, automotive chemicals, used oil, old electronics, pool chemicals, needles and unwanted non-controlled pharmaceutical waste. Door-to-door collection (collecting hazardous household waste directly from a home) has been Curbside Inc.’s specialty for years. Most of the time, our program is offered under an agreement with a local public agency (city, county, township, etc.) or a waste hauler. Most programs permit us to collect a wide range of household/automotive chemicals, electronics, sharps, pharmaceuticals and similar waste from homes. In some parts of the country, residents can contract with us directly.
To participate, residents can call our Call Center which is staffed from 5:00 A.M. Eastern until 5:00 P.M. Pacific time and schedule a collection of eligible waste directly from the home. You will be speaking with a knowledgeable U.S. based person who can discuss your possible eligibility and the waste you would like collected.
The concept is simple. You have waste that should not go to the landfill; we come to your home and take it. We recycle most of the waste collected and destroy much of remainder. Our processes help to prevent pollution. Some participants cannot or will not drive to events or drop-off locations. This concept eliminates the extra step.
Most of the programs offered by Curbside Inc. are paid for by public agencies for the benefit of their residents. Funding comes from a variety of sources but ultimately from you, the rate payer. Unfortunately, not all communities are aware of these programs and as such do not offer them to their residents. If you would like to start this type of program in your community, contact your local elected officials, ask them to visit this website. There is an entire section of the website devoted to public agencies.
We intend to add helpful information on this site about various wastes. Please return as we will be posting information at frequent intervals.
A list of typical items collected can be viewed as a PDF by clicking on the highlighted words "typical items".
Note: Not all programs allow all types of items to be collected. Some programs allow only used oil and used oil filters while others can allow more items and still other programs can allow everything on the list to be collected. The list is provided as a guide only. If Curbside does not collect an item on the list in your community supported program, there may be other locations where you can drop off the ineligible items.
